XPEL Ultimate Plus in a controlled studio near Mentor for I-90 grit and winter salt spray protection.
Mentor drivers who care about clean paint usually see the damage first on the front end, mirrors, and rockers after everyday highway miles. Our PPF installs are completed in-shop in a controlled studio so edges, alignment, and finish are managed with real quality control. You get protection that stays clear and tidy, without the variability of a driveway install.
Rock Chip & Road Debris Protection
Self-Healing Technology
Between I-90 commutes, OH-2 lakefront driving, and the winter salt/brine that hangs in slush for weeks, Mentor paint takes a steady beating—especially on bumpers, hoods, mirror caps, and lower rocker panels. Add spring gravel kicked up from road shoulders and summer construction aggregate, and it’s easy to end up with a peppered front clip and stained lower panels. XPEL Ultimate Plus helps protect against rock chips, abrasion, staining, and road rash (with realistic limits—it won’t prevent dents or every impact).

avoid aggressive washing and keep high-pressure spray away from film edges so the adhesive can fully settle. After that, wash with pH-neutral soap, use a clean microfiber drying towel, and remove bugs/tar sooner rather than later to prevent staining. If you notice small water bubbles or a faint haze early on, that can be normal as moisture evaporates—contact us if anything persists or an edge looks lifted.
New edge lift, trapped debris that grows, or a spot that stays cloudy after the cure period.
For most Mentor drivers, the front bumper, full hood area, mirror caps, and lower rockers see the earliest chipping and slush abrasion. If you do a lot of I-90 or OH-2 miles, front coverage plus rockers is a common “sweet spot.”
I-90 tends to be the bigger chip-maker because of higher speeds and more truck traffic, but OH-2 can still throw grit—especially in winter and during construction seasons. PPF helps, but it’s not a guarantee against every impact.
PPF is optically clear, so existing defects can still show. We’ll inspect the paint and recommend prep or touch-up so the film lays down cleanly and your finish looks consistent.
Avoid washing for about a week when possible. Once you do wash, avoid blasting edges with a pressure washer wand up close, and stick with gentle, pH-neutral products.
Light wash marring on the film surface heals best with warmth—sunlight, a warm garage, or warm water. In deep winter, healing can be slower until the film warms up.
Yes. Many owners start with the front end and then add doors, rockers, or rear impact areas later. We can plan seams and transitions so upgrades look intentional.
When applicable, the manufacturer warranty is for film defects (like cracking, yellowing, staining, or delamination) under normal use. It does not cover rock impacts or collision damage.
Coverage and prep determine timing. Many installs are drop-off/pick-up scheduled, and you can typically drive the vehicle after install; just avoid washing right away and follow aftercare guidance.
