Where Solon Commutes Chip Paint First

Between the US-422 ramps and the I-271 merge points, Solon’s daily traffic sees plenty of truck-thrown grit—especially when construction activity and resurfacing seasons are active around the Harper Road interchange. In winter, brine and slush become an abrasive spray that sands lower panels and the area behind the tires. XPEL film helps take the hit on the high-impact zones while keeping the look of your paint intact when it’s installed with tight alignment and careful edge finishing in a controlled studio.

Gloss vs Matte (Stealth finish)

Choose the Finish That Matches Your Build

Both finishes protect the same high-impact panels—the difference is how you want the surface to look once the film is on.

Choose Gloss if you want the original paint look with maximum clarity and shine.

Choose Stealth if you want a consistent satin finish and a more muted, custom vibe.

Aftercare That Keeps Film Clear Through Every Season

First wash timing: avoid washing for 48–72 hours after installation unless we advise otherwise at pickup.

Hand wash basics:

Use pH-balanced soap, a clean microfiber mitt, and gentle drying towels to reduce marring on the film surface.

Edge care:

Keep high-pressure water and stiff brushes away from film edges—especially around bumper openings and rocker transitions.

Bug/tar cleanup:

Soften contamination first (warm water or a film-safe cleaner), then wipe—don’t scrub dry.

What’s normal:

Light moisture haze or small water pockets can appear early and typically settle as the film cures.

PPF Questions Solon Drivers Ask Before Booking

I drive US-422 daily—what areas should I prioritize first?

For frequent US-422 miles, start with a full front (bumper, full hood, full fenders, mirrors, headlights). Add rockers and rear impact zones if you see a lot of winter spray or construction grit.

Yes—brine and slushy grit can act like a mild abrasive at speed, especially on lower doors, rockers, and behind the wheels. PPF helps reduce chipping and staining, but it won’t prevent dents or every impact.

When road work is active, loose grit and small stones are more common. PPF is most valuable on the leading edges and lower panels that see that spray first.

XPEL Ultimate Plus is backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty against defects like yellowing, cracking, or peeling. It does not cover rock impacts or collision damage.

Modern films have a self-healing top coat that can reduce fine swirls and light marring on the film surface with warmth (sunlight or normal heat). It won’t heal deep gouges or dents.

We use precision patterns and wrap edges where possible to minimize visible lines. Some areas can’t be fully wrapped depending on panel geometry and vehicle design.

Plan to wait 48–72 hours before the first wash unless we tell you otherwise. After that, stick to gentle hand washing and avoid aggressive brushes or blasting edges with high pressure.

All PPF installs are completed in-shop at our Cleveland studio on Miles Rd so we can control prep and quality checks. From Solon, it’s a short drive and we’ll schedule a drop-off/pickup window.
