Quick Answer

Mobile car detailing prices are mainly affected by vehicle size, the package you choose, and the condition of the vehicle. A larger vehicle has more cabin, glass, paint and cargo area to service. A deeper package adds more processes such as exterior washing, decontamination, polishing or protection. Heavy soil, pet hair and other condition issues can add labor and tools. At Nathan’s, our current mobile prices start at $239 for Premium Interior on a small vehicle, Premium Complete ranges from $299–$379 by size, and Platinum Complete ranges from $499–$599. Extra Dirty / Pet Hair is currently +$59. The live package page and confirmed quote control if prices or inclusions change.

What are the biggest factors that affect mobile detailing prices?

Price changes when the amount of area, treatment depth or labor required changes.

1

Vehicle size

Larger vehicles usually contain more carpet, seating, glass, paint, wheels and cargo area.

2

Package depth

Interior cleaning, complete detailing, clay treatment, machine polishing and ceramic protection require different amounts of work.

3

Vehicle condition

Pet hair, heavy soil, staining, sand, salt, excess debris and difficult contamination can add labor beyond a normal-condition vehicle.

Our current terms and conditions identify additional quote factors including vehicle configuration, paint condition, previous repair/refinishing, accessibility, selected upgrades/add-ons, labor/material requirements and conditions discovered after work begins.

How much does Nathan’s mobile detailing currently cost?

Our live mobile detailing page currently publishes three primary package levels:

Current packageSmallMediumLargeMain service depth
Premium Interior$239$259$289Deep interior cleaning and finishing
Premium Complete$299$339$379Premium Interior + exterior wash, wheels, road-film treatment and Premium wax
Platinum Complete$499$549$599Premium Complete + clay decontamination, machine polish and broader ceramic protection
Extra Dirty / Pet Hair+$59+$59+$59Additional time and tools for qualifying condition
Published price is tied to a defined package and vehicle category. It should not be interpreted as a universal price for every possible condition, repair, coating, correction or protection service.

Why does vehicle size change the price?

Vehicle size changes how much physical area must be serviced.

Our current pricing groups most coupes, convertibles and four-door sedans as small; most crossovers, small trucks and small SUVs as medium; and most three-row vehicles, large trucks, SUVs and minivans as large.

  • Carpet and floor area
  • Seats and seating rows
  • Interior trim and glass
  • Cargo space
  • Exterior paint area
  • Wheel/tire area
  • Doors, jambs and access points
How vehicle size affects mobile detailing price Small, medium and large vehicles show increasing cabin, exterior and cargo area while treatment depth stays controlled by the selected package. SMALL MEDIUM LARGE LESS TOTAL AREA MORE CABIN / BODY AREA MORE ROWS / CARGO / BODY AREA SIZE CHANGES QUANTITY OF WORK — PACKAGE CHANGES DEPTH OF WORK NATHAN’S DETAILING
Vehicle size and package depth are separate pricing variables. A larger vehicle adds area; a deeper package adds processes.

Why does package depth change the price so much?

Because the package changes what work is actually being performed.

Our live package-inclusions guide separates the three current service levels clearly.

How does vehicle condition affect the final price?

Condition affects the amount of labor required to complete the booked tasks.

Our current terms identify dirt, staining, contamination, pet hair, sand, salt, mold, odor and excess debris among the conditions that can affect a quote. Our mobile package page currently publishes a specific +$59 Extra Dirty / Pet Hair charge for additional time and tools.

ConditionWhy it can increase workloadCurrent Nathan’s treatment
Heavy pet hairHair can lodge in carpet, seat fabric and cargo-area fibers and require repeated tool passes.Extra Dirty / Pet Hair currently +$59 when applicable.
Heavy loose debrisMore material must be removed before detailed cleaning can begin.Condition considered during quote/inspection.
SandFine particles can settle deeply into carpet and seams.Condition considered during quote/inspection.
Winter salt / road soilCan require repeated cleaning on mats, carpets, lower panels and exterior areas.Condition considered according to package and inspection.
Stains / spillsMay require targeted chemistry, steam or repeated treatment.Treatment remains subject to package scope and realistic result limitations.
Odor / mold concernsSource, material condition and safety can change the appropriate service.Needs assessment; ordinary detailing does not guarantee correction of every cause.
More expensive does not mean every defect becomes removable. A condition charge pays for additional cleaning work; it does not convert permanent staining, material failure, scratches or physical damage into cleanable dirt.

Why can a small dirty vehicle require more work than a larger maintained vehicle?

Size and condition are independent variables.

A large SUV may have more area, but if it has been maintained regularly the work can remain predictable. A smaller sedan can require much more intensive treatment if it contains embedded pet hair, sand, old spills and heavy staining.

Vehicle size and vehicle condition are separate pricing variables A large maintained SUV is compared with a small heavily contaminated sedan to show that area and treatment intensity influence workload separately. LARGE + MAINTAINED SMALL + HEAVY CONDITION MORE AREA LOWER TREATMENT INTENSITY LESS AREA HIGHER TREATMENT INTENSITY PRICE SHOULD NOT BE EXPLAINED BY VEHICLE SIZE ALONE NATHAN’S DETAILING
Surface area and contamination intensity affect workload in different ways. A quote should consider both.

Our live mobile detailing process guide makes the same distinction: vehicle size changes the amount of area, while condition changes the treatment intensity.

Does the type of contamination affect price?

Yes, because not all contamination is removed with the same process.

Contamination typeTypical treatment differencePricing implication
Loose dust / crumbsRoutine vacuuming or wipingUsually part of normal package workload.
Embedded pet hairSpecialty tools, repeated passes and more laborCan trigger current condition charge.
Sticky spills / stainsTargeted chemistry, steam or repeated treatmentCan increase labor depending on condition and scope.
Bonded exterior contaminationMay require clay or chemical decontaminationChanges the appropriate package/service depth.
Paint defects / swirlsCleaning does not remove them; polishing may be neededMay move the job into Platinum or another paint service.
Adhesive / old film / existing coating issuesRemoval or compatibility work may require additional labor/materialsTerms identify removal of film, tint, coating, adhesives or contaminants as a quote factor.

How does paint condition change what you should pay for?

Paint condition matters because washing, decontamination, polishing, coating and PPF are different services.

A customer should not pay for polishing when the paint only needs routine washing. The opposite is also true: a wash-and-wax package should not be expected to correct visible swirls or deeper defects that require paint refinement.

Paint goalLikely service direction
Remove normal road dirtPackage-defined exterior washing
Remove bonded contaminationDecontamination process such as clay when appropriate
Improve gloss / light finish conditionPackage including machine polish when suitable
Install temporary wax protectionPremium Complete currently includes Premium wax up to 3 months
Install broader temporary ceramic protectionPlatinum currently includes ceramic wax up to 9 months plus surface-specific protection
Install multi-year coating Separate studio professional ceramic coating service
Protect from stone chips Separate paint protection film service
Do not compare a $299–$379 Premium Complete mobile detail with a multi-year ceramic coating or PPF as though they are interchangeable prices. They solve different vehicle conditions and use different installation environments.

Can location or access affect the quote?

They can affect how the appointment is performed and, in some circumstances, the quote.

Our terms identify vehicle accessibility as a quote factor. Mobile detailing also requires enough safe working space to access the vehicle and use equipment. Our current mobile page says a standard driveway or roughly two open parking spaces is usually suitable.

  • Restricted parking garage
  • Vehicle blocked closely on one or more sides
  • Property that does not allow mobile detailing
  • Location where equipment cannot be positioned safely
  • Unusual accessories or configuration that make surfaces harder to reach
Do not turn “location” into an invented travel surcharge. Unless a specific travel fee is published or quoted for that appointment, the safer statement is that access and location can affect feasibility, setup and quote confirmation.

Does the time required affect price?

Labor demand matters, but customers should not assume every mobile detail is billed simply by the hour.

Our current mobile page says most vehicles take around 2–4 hours depending on size and condition, and excessively dirty vehicles or heavy pet hair can add time.

vehicle size + package depth + condition + access → labor/material demand → confirmed quote

Our live process guide explains why the same package can take different amounts of work on two different vehicles.

What should not automatically increase the price?

AssumptionBetter rule
Luxury badge = higher pricePrice should follow size, condition, package and actual service requirements unless a specific vehicle creates additional complexity.
Old vehicle = more expensiveAge alone does not establish workload; actual condition does.
Black paint = more expensiveColor alone does not define service depth; paint condition and desired correction do.
SUV = always harder than sedanSize adds area, but a maintained SUV can be easier than a neglected sedan.
Pet owner = automatic +$59The condition charge should reflect qualifying extra pet-hair/soil workload, not pet ownership by itself.
Higher package removes every defectPermanent stains, scratches, failed paint and material damage remain separate limitations.

How can you estimate your likely price before booking?

Mobile car detailing price estimation framework A five-stage flow asks vehicle size, desired service depth, condition, special access or add-ons, and then arrives at a confirmed quote. 1. VEHICLE SIZE / CONFIGURATION 2. PACKAGE / SERVICE DEPTH 3. ACTUAL CONDITION 4. ADD-ONS / ACCESS ISSUES 5. CONFIRMED PRICE / QUOTE START WITH THE PUBLISHED PACKAGE — THEN ADJUST ONLY FOR REAL SERVICE VARIABLES NATHAN’S DETAILING
A useful estimate starts with the current package table, then accounts for the specific vehicle and condition.
  • Identify whether your vehicle falls into the current small, medium or large category.
  • Choose the package that contains the work you actually want.
  • Describe heavy pet hair, sand, salt, spills, odor, mold concerns or excess debris before arrival.
  • Mention wraps, PPF, coatings, previous paintwork or unusual modifications.
  • Share photos when condition is difficult to describe.
  • Confirm any add-on or materially different work before it is performed.

Why can online average detailing prices be misleading?

Two services can both be called a “full detail” while containing different work.

One provider might include only wash, vacuum, wipe-down and wax. Another may include stain treatment, decontamination, machine polishing and ceramic protection. Comparing only the final dollar amount hides the difference in treatment depth.

Our live inclusions guide recommends comparing written areas, methods, products, condition charges and limitations rather than package names alone.

Better comparison: Compare task list to task list, then compare price. A lower number is not automatically cheaper if it excludes the process your vehicle actually needs.

How should you compare Nathan’s Premium Complete and Platinum prices?

Vehicle sizePremium CompletePlatinum CompleteCurrent difference
Small$299$499$200
Medium$339$549$210
Large$379$599$220

That difference corresponds to Platinum adding clay decontamination, high-gloss machine polishing, ceramic rain repellent, wheel protection, fabric guard, leather protection and ceramic wax advertised up to nine months.

If you do not need those processes, paying for Platinum simply because it is the highest tier may not be the best value. If those are exactly the outcomes you want, comparing it only with a wash-and-wax price misses the additional work.

What happens if the vehicle needs work outside the mobile package?

Some goals change the service category rather than merely increasing a mobile-detail price.

Our separate professional ceramic coating packages currently start at $599 for a two-year XPEL coating, while our PPF packages start at $1,399 for Full Front coverage. Those are controlled-studio protection services with different preparation, materials and installation requirements.

  • Ceramic wax is not the same as a multi-year ceramic coating.
  • Wax or coating is not physical rock-chip protection.
  • High-gloss mobile polishing is not unlimited paint correction.
  • Ordinary detailing is not automatically film, tint, coating or adhesive removal.

What affects mobile car detailing prices at Nathan’s?

  • Heavy soil or pet hair
  • Sand, salt, stains, odor, debris and other contamination
  • Paint condition and required preparation
  • Accessibility and service setup

Want the right price for your vehicle?

Start with the vehicle size, package you want and an accurate description of its condition. Heavy pet hair, unusual contamination, paint concerns or existing film/coating should be mentioned before the appointment so the quote can match the work required.
